Vernon is surrounded by three lakes (Kalamalka Lake was voted the third most beautiful lake in North America) great hiking trails, with swimming and boating in the summer. Golf and tourist attractions abound, like the famous O'Keefe Ranch.

There's great skiing in the winter with Silver Star Resort only 20 minutes out of town.
